Colby Rasmus has battled stomach issues before.

Two season ago, Rasmus watched his weight decline throughout the 2009 season as he battled a stomach virus.  Rasmus lost over 20 pounds.

Turn the calendar forward two seasons and once again, Rasmus is battling another mid-section issue.  But this time, it is an abdominal strain suffered while lifting weights that was further aggravated during Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Rasmus missed his second straight game on Monday night, as Jon Jay got the start in center field against the Philadelphia Phillies.  Rasmus aggravated the injury trying to rob a home run during the Cardinals 7-3 loss to the Reds.

"Yesterday was probably the worst it's felt after doing that, but today it already feels better," Rasmus said.

Rasmus is having a good season for the Cardinals and the Cardinals miss his productive bat and speed in the lineup.  Rasmus is leading the team in runs scored with 31 while hitting .305 with three home runs and 15 RBI's on the season.

It is good to hear that Rasmus is doing everything to eliminate the weight loss problem that plagued him two seasons ago.  Working out and staying fit will certainly help Colby in the long-run throughout his career.

But hopefully, the young center fielder does not push it too hard again.
