St. Louis Blues fans who have been paying attention to the IIHF World Championships taking place in Slovakia have to like what they are seeing out of their 22 year old forward Patrik Berglund.
Berglund continued his hot hand on Friday, scoring two goals in helping to lead Sweden to the gold medal game on Sunday against Finland.
Berglund played well at the end of last season for the Blues, but nobody could have predicted that Berglund would be among the best players in this year's World Championships.
Berglund is tied with Jarkko Immonen of Finland for the most goals in the tournament at eight.
Quite an impressive showing for Berglund and Blues fans can only hope that Berglund can build off this experience as he prepares for next season.
Berglund was second on the Blues in goals last season with 22. But Berglund improved most by being more consistent, anticipating plays better, and by being more aggressive. Trends that should carry into next season.
And if Berglund is truly developing into the front line scoring threat many predicted he would, it can only help get this franchise back into the playoffs.
But first on Berglund's list is winning a gold medal for Sweden. Then he can concentrate on winning games in the NHL.
