After drafting Robert Quinn in the first round of the NFL Draft, the Rams went heavy on offense, drafting a tight end and two wide receivers in rounds two through four of the 2011 NFL Draft. The Rams got quarterback Sam Bradford plenty of toys.
In the fifth round, the Rams finally addressed the gaping hole in the defensive backfield byy selecting safety Jermale Hines out of Ohio State.
The Rams made Hines the 158th overall pick in the 2011 draft and one would think that Hines will have every chance to make the Rams team in 2011 after the departure of star safety O.J. Atogwe.
Hines recorded 63 tackles and one interception last season as a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Hines ran a 4.61 yard 40 yard dash, bench pressed 19 reps, and had a vertical leap of 31 inches at this year's NFL Combine.
The Rams are right to finally address an offense that had needs at defensive back, line backer, and defensive tackle, especially after taking two wide receivers in rounds three and four.
