Ryan Franklin was at it again on Saturday afternoon, allowing the go-ahead hit in the 8th inning of the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

Franklin has had possibly the worst start to a season in Cardinals history.

He's blown 4 out of 5 of his save opportunities.  He's been removed from the closer's role.  He's bashed Cardinals fans for booing him.

And on Saturday, he found another way to help the Cardinals lose an important game.

Franklin has an 0-2 record and a 7.88 ERA on the season.  All but one of his 8 appearances have been terrible this season.

So what else can the Cardinals and Tony La Russa do with Franklin?  Keep putting him in pressure situations against division rivals?  Make him the long-reliever, mop up guy in the bullpen?  Should they designate him for assignment?

Cardinals fans have booed him twice this week, so its time they vote on how the Cardinals should handle Ryan Franklin going forward.

  1. It's amazing just how bad he's been this year. If Dave Duncan can't fix him, it might be time to move him.

  2. Make him shave that stupid thing on his chin...

  3. This guy has had more than enough chances to prove his worth and failed. Lose him now. These blown saves are going to come back to haunt LaRussa in Sept and Oct. when the race tightens up. I hate to be Tony if they lose out in the playoffs by a game or two.
