Daniel Descalso knows his time in St. Louis could be very limited.

Skip Schumaker will return from the 15 day disabled list at some point and it will likely either be Descalso or Tyler Greene who will get shipped back to Memphis.

On a night where the headlines featured Lance Berkman's return to Houston and the first blown save by new Cardinals closer Mitchell Boggs, Descalso did plenty to make sure the powers that be think extra hard if they consider shipping him out.

Descalso, starting at second base on Tuesday night, was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, a triple, 2 RBI's, and a walk.

The utility infielder reached base each time he came to the plate and helped replace the production of Albert Pujols and Ryan Theriot, who were both out with injuries.

Descalso has seen very little playing time at second base this season.  Coming into Tuesday's game, Descalso had only seen 6 at bats while playing second.  By the way he swung the bat on Tuesday, its obvious that second base is where Descalso is most comfortable.

And while Tuesday's performance lifted his batting average to just .256 on the season, Descalso is hoping it lifts his chances of staying with the big league club all season long.
