Berkman Homers Twice, Cardinals Win 11-7

Lance Berkman's first two nights back in Houston as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals did not go exactly as planned.

Tuesday night saw his 9th inning RBI double go to waste while Wednesday night saw his less than stellar defense on display as the former Astros first baseman misjudged a fly ball.

On Thursday, Lance Berkman was absolutely money, homering twice against his former club and lead the Cardinals to a 11-7 victory over the Houston Astros.

Berkman finished the evening 4 for 5 with 2 bombs, a double, 3 runs scored, and 5 RBI's.

An impressive night for the switch-hitting veteran playing in his old ball park.

Berkman's production provided enough run support for starter Kyle McClellan to pick up his 4th win on the season.

McClellan threw 5.2 innings, allowing 5 earned runs and 8 hits.  Thanks to Berkman, McClellan's poor performance will go unnoticed as he was able to stick around for the victory.

Cardinals reliever Fernando Salas picked up his first save of the season after recording the find four outs for the Cardinals.

Besides Berkman, other Cardinals had a good night offensively.

David Freese was 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI and Matt Holliday was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's on the evening.

The win gave the Cardinals their 5th consecutive series win and moved their record to 14-11 on the season.
