Missouri State was the regular season conference champions of the Missouri Valley Conference.
Unfortunately, the Bears will not be the post-season NIT Tournament champions as well.
After leading by 6 on the road at Miami out of the vaunted ACC Conference, the Bears could not hold off a streaky Miami team in route to a 81-72 defeat at the hands of the Hurricanes.
Miami outscored Missouri State 55-40 in the second half. Allowing that many points in a single half is unacceptable in post-season, whether you are playing in the Big Dance or the NIT.
The loss eliminates the Bears and ends their season with an impressive 26-9 record.
Senior Adam Leonard, playing his last game in Missouri State maroon, poured in 26 points for Missouri State, including 7 of 8 from 3 point range.
Other seniors playing their last game for Missouri State include starters Jermaine Mallet with 3 points, Nafis Ricks with 9 points, and center Will Creekmore 6 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.
Junior and Missouri Valley player of the year Kyle Weems contributed 18 points in the defeat.
Congrats to Missouri State for an outstanding season.
