The Missouri State Bears felt snubbed when they were excluded from the NCAA Tournament a week ago on Selection Sunday.

The committee certainly did not value their 25 win regular season or their Missouri Valley regular season championship and did not reward the Bears with a trip to the Big Dance.

But the Bears rewarded themselves after their first round victory over Murray State in the NIT.

With a trip to Miami, Florida.

On Monday night Missouri State will take on the Miami Hurricanes out of the ACC, something that the Bears are looking forward both for on and off the court reasons.

"It's great going to Miami," said freshman Corey Copeland.  "You know the weather's going to be nice and the atmosphere will be good.  We just want to go down there and play our game."

Hopefully the Bears are not distracted by the enjoyment of the beaches and the weather as they truly have an opportunity to show the nay-sayers that they are for real.

Missouri State does not get too many opportunities to play and beat teams from the "power conferences," so Monday's game not only gives the Bears a nice spring break in South Florida, but a chance for a win to help move the program forward.

Which is what this post season experience all about.

"And I think this is more beneficial than anything," coach Cuonzo Martin said.  "Just to be able to practice, to really improve the skill level and understanding of what we're trying to do, helps to be more relaxed and confident going into (future) game situations."

The Bears will be looking for their 27th win in Miami.  They'll also be enjoying the trip that they earned.
