St. Louis Cardinals fans have started to worry about the spring training that second year starter Jamie Garcia has posted thus far.

Garcia has yet to have a quality outing this spring.  While Friday's performance during the Cardinals 10-4 win was better, it is still not the Garcia the Cardinals will need in order to win the N.L. Central Division.

Garcia hurled 4 innings on Thursday, allowing 5 hits, 2 walks, and 2 earned runs.

Not great, but Garcia was proud that he was able to battle through his struggles to make a respectable outing.

"Today I had a little trouble with my sinker," Garcia said. "A couple of my pitches were up. I walked a couple of guys. But I was able to make some adjustments and kept my pitches working."

While Garcia still isn't where he wants to be on the mound, he did perform well at the plate.  Garcia had 2 RBI's on the day and knocked in another run with a ground out.

"It's always good to help out the team," Garcia said. "I'm out there trying to get a good swing, and today I did."

Daniel Descalso and Mark Hamilton also got in some good swings.  Both Cardinals farmhands went deep for St. Louis. Hamilton's solo shot was his third bomb of the spring.

Finally, Matt Carpenter continued to make it virtually impossible to leave him off the roster once again.  Hitting in 3-hole in the lineup, Carpenter contributed two more hits and an RBI.

If Carpenter is left off the roster it will be a travesty.

Albert Pujols and Lance Berkman did not play.  But the biggest takeaway from Friday's game was that Garcia showed improvement on the hill.
