Cardinals To Face Tim Stauffer On Opening Day

Opening day always provides excitement for fans, players, and everyone involved with Major League baseball.

The atmosphere at Busch Stadium is especially exciting on opening day, as St. Louis fans are always eager to see their team for the first time.

And, this year on opening day, the St. Louis Cardinals will be excited to see Tim Stauffer on the hill for the San Diego Padres.

Stauffer, who is making the opening day start for the San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium on Thursday in wake of an injury to Mat Latos, has not fared particularly well when facing the Cardinals in the past.

Over the past 3 seasons, Stauffer has made 3 starts against the Cardinals, and he has lost every single one of them.

Stauffer has posted a 7.20 ERA in 15 innings over those 3 starts, allowing the Cardinals to hit .288 and plate 12 runs.

Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday and Colby Rasmus should be excited to hopefully get the 2011 season off to the right start.

If history repeats itself as it often does, the Cardinals could have a big day.
