Winchester Traded To Anaheim

The NHL trade deadline has come and past, so you don't have to worry about the St. Louis Blues clearing any more salary and moving any more players.

But just before the deadline, the Blues did make a last second move.

The Blues sent forward Brad Winchester to the Anaheim Ducks.  In exchange, the Blues receiver rights to Anaheim's 3rd round draft pick.

The deal is yet another money-saving move for the Blues.  Winchester is making $700,000 this season, which is not cheap for a 4th line grinder.

Winchester was valuable during his time in St. Louis, playing big minutes earlier this season while multiple Blues forwards were sidelined with injuries.

Winchester has scored 9 goals and assisted on 5 others this season.

Winchester also adds to Anaheim's toughness and brings size.  He isn't afraid to mix it up.

The Blues not have a plethora of draft picks on their hands and it will be interesting to see if they actually use them all to draft players.

Or, they could package them in a deal for a superstar.
