Stewart Is Big Time Talent For Blues

Erik Johnson may have gotten his revenge in his return to St. Louis in the Blues 4-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.

But the center piece the Blues received in return also got on the board against his former team, netting his third goal in as many games for the Blues.

While Johnson was predicted to be a staple on the blue-line for years in St. Louis, forward Chris Stewart will instead be lighting the lamp.

Stewart is a 6 foot 2 inch, 228 pound power forward.  The 23 year old from Toronto, Canada plays a physical game, likes to be in front of the net, and has a knack for scoring.

Stewart has 33 points on the season in just 39 games, including 16 goals.  That type of production makes it easy to get rid of a player the caliber of Erik Johnson.

Blues general manager can't peg exactly who Stewart reminds him of, but he is excited to be able to acquire him.

"I hate to put labels on players, but when I think of Stewart, I have a picture of a Todd Bertuzzi, a picture of Brendan Shanahan, a Jarome Iginla," Armstrong said. "Someone who can overpower players going to the net but has the skill set to pull out and make plays."

Making plays is exactly what the Blues offense needs.

Stewart will look to continue his hot scoring streak for his new team as the Blues travel to Vancouver on Wednesday night.
