Pujols Rejects 8 Year Offer From Cardinals

While little details have been leaked by either side in the Albert Pujols and St. Louis Cardinals contract saga, details are bound to come out sometime.

Somehow Jon Heyman of Sports Illustraded has some sort of connection with one side of the camp.

Heyman is reporting that the Cardinals offered their future Hall of Fame first baseman an 8 year contract, with the annual term somewhere south of $30 million per season.

And Pujols promptly rejected the deal.

word is, the #cardinals 8-year offer was for south of $30 mil per yr. exact figure hasnt been ascertained yet.less than a minute ago via web

If that is the case and is true, congrats to the Cardinals for stepping up to the plate and playing, especially if "somewhere south of $30 million" is anything above $25 million per season.
And if it is true, it will be hard for Cardinals fans to believe that Pujols is being anything but greedy.
