Power Play Leads Blues Over Canucks

After a pitiful weekend series against the Minnesota Wild, the St. Louis Blues needed a huge win on home ice against the powerful Vancouver Canucks, who lead the NHL in points with 81.

Another loss and we likely would've started to speculate who would be dealt as the NHL trade deadline approaches.

Instead, led by two power play goals, the Blues hung on for a 3-2 victory over the Canucks at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

The Blues power play came into the game ranked 26th in the league, converting on just 14.2 percent of their opportunities.

On Monday they converted on 40%, scoring two goals in 5 chances in route to a much needed victory.

Andy McDonald led the way for the Blues on offense, scoring one of the power play goals and assisting on the other, Patrick Berglund's 15th goal of the season.

Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo assisted on both power play goals as well.

The Blues next play on Friday night in Buffalo, New York.  The game starts a stretch where the Blues play 7 games in 10 days.

  1. Once they win about 9 more in a row I will start thinking about playoffs.

  2. Sorry dude, but that is not going to happen. If it does, I'll quit my job and do this full time.
