Mozeliak Is Not Interested In Michael Young

Yesterday we discussed the pros and cons of adding Michael Young to the St. Louis Cardinals roster.

Today, general manager John Mozeliak let it be known how he felt on the matter.

"We feel we've got our roster set," Mozeliak said. "I stand by what I've said before, that I don't see any major additions at this point."

Young, who became disgruntled with the Texas Rangers when they signed Adrian Beltre to a long-term contract this winter, has requested a trade.

The infielder has veto-power in his contract, and according to MLB.com, the St. Louis Cardinals are among 7 teams that Young would accept in a trade.

Young hit .284 in 2010 with 21 home runs and 91 RBI's. He is also able to play all 4 infield positions, flexibility that is certain to interest manager Tony La Russa.

But Young comes with a huge price tag, as he is owed $48 million over the next 3 seasons.

Which makes it no surprise that Mozeliak is just not interested.

"We're going to give [Freese] every opportunity at this point," Mozeliak said. "It's just a very difficult fit at this time."
