Former Cardinals are signing minor league contracts all over Major League Baseball.
Likely because most of them are fringe major leaguers to begin with.
Last week Pedro Feliz and Felipe Lopez signed minor league deals and today former St. Louis Cardinals infielder Aaron Miles found himself invited to the Los Angeles Dodgers spring training with a shot to make the team and a minor league contract of his own.
Miles will be competing for a spot on the Dodgers bench in what is turning out to be a very crowded roster.
Miles who has spent 4 seasons in St. Louis during two different stints, including the 2006 World Series Championship team.
In 2010, Miles hit .281 with 9 RBI's in 139 at bats in a utility role with the Cardinals.
His most impressive accomplishment in 2010 was probably on the mound. Miles appeared in mop-up duty twice for the Cardinals, throwing an inning in each appearance without allowing a run on just two hits.
Miles is 34 and is trying to extend his major league career for maybe the last time.
