Just 4 days after he was traded to Colorado and just prior to taking the ice against his former team, Johnson had strong words for reporters regarding the trade.
"I want them to regret trading Erik Johnson," he said. "There's no doubt about that, and I say that with the utmost respect. I want [general manager] Doug Armstrong to regret the trade."
Armstrong might not regret the trade completely yet, but Johnson got his revenge, scoring Colorado's go-ahead goal to give the Avalanche a 4-3 victory in St. Louis.
Johnson was traded to Colorado in exchange for power forward Chris Stewart and defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.
Stewart lit up the score board as well on Tuesday, with a helper from Shattenkirk. The duo acquired from the Avalanche have been plenty productive in their first 3 games wearing the Blues uniform.
But its Johnson that got the last laugh tonight as his team came away with a good road win.
Andy McDonald added his 14th goal of the season for the Blues and Patrik Berglund netted his 16th goal of the season.
The Blues have now lost 2 in a row and are now headed on a 3 game road trip through Western Canada, never an easy task.
Another bad loss.
