Jaroslav Halak will be a key component to any playoff run the St. Louis Blues will hope to muster.
Unfortunately, Halak wasn't on the ice Friday night in the Blues 5-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
Halak suffered what the team has termed as an "upper-body injury" during the morning skate of the cancelled Colorado Avalanche game earlier this week on Tuesday.
Halak, who led Western Conference goalies in All-Star voting, has struggled as of late.
In his last 10 games, Halak is just 2-6-2 with a 3.582 goals against average and a save percentage of just 88%.
Halak's poor play could be a big reason that the Blues have slipped so far in the standings.
Halak's availability has been listed as "day-to-day" and it is unknown as to when he will be able to return to game action.
Ben Bishop, a local kid from St. Louis, has been called up from Peoria to back up Ty Conklin while Halak recovers.

"upper-body injury" was a back issue....and it definitely was not from carrying the Blues during the first half of the season...yes, he helped the team win a few games this year that they should of lost. But, I have not been overly impressed with his play. I think the Canadians made the right decision in picking Price over Halak.
ReplyDeleteLets go Blues!!
SB
You are correct SB. Halak has to be better if the Blues have any shot at the playoffs.
