After a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime loss on Sunday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning,
Thanks to Matt D'Agostini, they did.
D'Agostini netted the game-winning goal with 4 minutes remaining in the third period as the Blues were able to defeat the Florida Panthers 2-1 in South Florida.
D'Agostini, a former Montreal Canadian, has been a very valuable third line forward for the Blues throughout the entire season.
Filling in on the top lines for most of the year as Andy McDonald and T.J. Oshie nursed injuries, D'Agostini's production has been greatly unexpected.
D'Agostini's third period goal was his 12th on the season, giving him 27 points for the year. Last year with the Canadians, D'Agostini had just 4 points in 40 games.
D'Agostini is not a superstar but is a very productive grinder that provides depth to the Blues front line.
Meanwhile, the other St. Louis goal was scored by all-star David Backes, his 18th on the season.
Former Blues defenseman Dennis Wideman netted his 8th goal of the season in defeat for the Panthers.
The Blues next travel to Minnesota to take on the Wild on Friday night. the St. Louis Blues were hoping to reverse their fortune in the state of Florida on Tuesday night.
