Majority owner Bill DeWitt Jr. gets most of the press as the owner of the St. Louis Cardinals.
But a member of Dewitt's ownership group and a key member in organizing the group the bought the Cardinals from Anheuser-Busch in 1996 suddenly died over the weekend.
Andrew N. "Drew" Baur died suddenly on Sunday morning. The cause of death was not given although a family member has indicated that the local banker suffered a heart attack.
"We have lost a wonderful friend, and we are deeply saddened by his sudden passing," DeWitt Jr. said in a statement released by the club.
