Sam Bradford has statistics that rivaled the rookie seasons posted by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and more impressively, Indianapolis Colts star Peyton Manning.
Despite how good Bradford was during his rookie season, he will need to take a huge step forward in 2011 if the Rams expect to make the playoffs.
And he's excited about doing it with new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
"If you look at what Josh (McDaniels) has done with some of his offenses in the past, what his quarterbacks have been able to do, I'm extremely excited for this opportunity," Bradford told Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
"I can't wait to get into the (playbook) with him and just learn about what we're going to do next year. Obviously, I'm going to have to learn a lot. But I feel like I was able to handle everything that they threw at me last year. Having a year's experience under my belt, I think it'll even make this process easier."
Bradford's comments ignite two immediate reactions.
First, why is Bradford calling McDaniels by his first name? Shouldn't a player who just finished his rookie season being calling his new offensive coordinator something a little more professional? I think "Coach" works just fine...
And second, if Bradford can work successfully with McDaniels and develops into the star he looks destined to be, it will be fun watching "Sam the Ram" sling the ball all over the field in "Josh's" spread offense.
Now, lets think about getting some high quality wide receivers for Bradford to throw to.
