Andy McDonald was excited to return to the lineup on Friday night against the Edmonton Oilers.
And the Blues offense desperately needed him.
In McDonald's first game back the Blues erupted for 5 goals in their 5 to 3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
McDonald, returning from a concussion injury that sidelined him for 24 games, didn't find the back of the net in the contest, but did notch an assist.
Pairing with all-star David Backes and winger Brad Boyes, McDonald did have plus/minus rating of a plus 2 on the evening.
Blues forward T.J. Oshie scored his third goal of the season to open the scoring brigade after receiving a beautiful pass from forward Alex Steen, who finished with two assists of his own.
Boyes added an assist and a goal while forward Patrik Berglund notched 2 assists.
Blues goalie Ty Conklin, filling in for an injured Jaroslav Halak was good enough for the win, stopping 29 of Edmonton 32 shots.
The Blues now have 53 points on the season as they try to fight their way back into playoff contention.
They next travel to St. Petersburg, Florida to take on the red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
The Lightning have 69 points on the season and are currently second in the Eastern Conference standings.
