60 Second Rant: Why Did Laurence Bowers Play Against Oklahoma State?

It was great to see that Laurence Bowers was able to suit up for the Missouri Tigers in their 76 to 70 loss to Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

But what was the point?

Bowers scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in just 15 minutes of action on Wednesday night, all of which are below his season averages.  It brings to mind a couple of questions...

Why did Bowers play at all when he obviously was still shaken by the accidentally brutal elbow he took to the chin during the Tigers loss to the Texas Longhorns last weekend?

If Bowers was truly ok to play, why did he play just 15 minutes against the Cowboys last night?

Bowers averages over 24 minutes per game this season and that includes the contest against Texas where he played just 4 minutes.

You would think in a game where the Tigers were out-rebounded 38 to 31 by OSU that Bowers and his 5.8 rebounds per game would have been on the floor if he truly was ok.

Its clear to see that Mizzou is clearly in a funk these days and that is evident by their 3-4 record during Big 12 play.

But is it worth risking further injury to possibly your most important player?

Don't you need a healthy and effective Bowers for a run in the NCAA tournament?

Bowers looked like he felt terrible against Oklahoma State.

If Mike Anderson wasn't going to use Bowers 100%, then he should feel terrible for even letting him step on the floor.
