Tigers Tame Cornhuskers For First Big 12 Win

Marcus Denmon has easily established himself as the go-to player for the Missouri Tigers.

Prior to his teams 77-69 loss to the Tigers on the road in Columbia, Missouri, Nebraska Cornhuskers coach Doc Sadler knew that Denmon was the man his team needed to stop.

"A guy shooting 50 percent from the 3-point line and we're defending him like you know, we want you to shoot it," Sadler said. "He was a no-catch guy and he caught it, and he made us pay."

Denmon finished the contest with 27 points, making 5 of 7 of his three point attempts during the contest.  The 27 points matched a career high that he posted earlier this season in an overtime loss to Georgetown.

Forward Ricardo Ratliffe pitched in 12 points and 7 rebounds and forward Laurence Bowers also dropped in 12 points for the Tigers.

While Denmon leads the Tigers in scoring at 18 points per game, he knows that it take an effort on both end of the floor and that it was the Tigers defense that helped propel the team to victory.

"Sometimes that's what our defense does," Denmon said. "It just beats people up and they can kind of get out of control. That was just one of the easy ones."

Mizzou forced Nebraska into 15 turnovers and blocked six Cornhuskers shots.

After the disappointing loss on the road at Colorado, the defense and Denmon helped get the Tigers back on the winning path.

Mizzou will next travel to College Station, Texas on Saturday to take on the 14th ranked Texas A&M Aggies in a battle between two teams that have combined for just three losses on the season.
