Going into Mizzou's game against the 8th ranked Texas Longhorns it was obvious that Texas had one "huge" advantage.
SIZE!
The size advantage reared its ugly head on Saturday night as the Longhorns out-rebounded the Tigers 40 to 28 in route to a 71-58 victory over Mizzou.
Not only was Mizzou dominated on the glass, but they shot terrible too, a brutal combination when you can't grab any rebounds.
Mizzou shot just 33.9% from the field and was just 4 of 18, or 22% from 3 point range against the Longhorns.
Winning on the road against a Top 10 team is virtually impossible if you aren't knocking down open jumpers.
One reason the Tigers may have been dominated on the boards could have been the loss of Laurence Bowers early in the first half.
After scoring a bucket under the basket, Bowers took an incidental elbow to the jaw and immediately hit the floor and did not move. Bowers laid on the floor for a good 4 minute before being helped off by Tiger medical staff. He was escorted to the locker room and did not return.
Its safe to say the contest was physical, something that played in the Longhorns favor.
"I thought there were a lot of loose elbows out there," Missouri coach Mike Anderson said.
Mizzou received 12 points and 5 assists off the bench from freshman Phil Pressey. Meanwhile, junior guard Kim English scored 10 points on 3 of 8 shooting from the floor.
The Tigers next travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Wednesday.
