Laurence Bowers had 15 points and 8 blocks in Mizzou's 89-76 loss on the road against the Colorado Buffaloes. |
Unfortunately, the Tigers laid an egg and lost their Big 12 opener 89-79, a disappointing outcome considering how well the Tigers played prior to the Big 12 opener.
"This right here just kind of brought us back down to reality," MU forward Laurence Bowers said.
Reality unfortunately hurts as the loss brought the Tigers record to 13-2 and now 0-1 on the young Big 12 season. The Tigers likely will drop out of the Top 10 after this defeat and thins will only get tougher as the Tigers get in the swing of the Big 12 season.
The Tigers pressure defense was unable to force any turnovers as Colorado only turned the ball over 10 times throughout the entire game and only twice in the first half, which was instrumental in the Buffaloes building a 46-34 halftime lead
The Tigers defense couldn't stop Colorado sophomore Alec Burks either, who scored 36 points and hit plenty of key shots in the final 5 minutes as Mizzou tried to mount a comeback.
Sophomore guard Michael Dixon led the Tigers with 17 points off the bench while Bowers pitched in 15 points and 8 blocked shots.
The Tigers next play at home on Wednesday against Nebraska, who is an impressive 13-2 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play.
