Mark Clayton is Looking to Come Back in 2011

Now that Josh McDaniels has finally been named the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams, its time to start thinking about some of the weapons that can be added to an offensive arsenal that lacked a down field threat.

One of those weapons could be wide receiver Mark Clayton, who suffered a season ending knee injury suffered in Week 5 of 2010 against the Detroit Lions.

Clayton has been working hard to get himself healthy.

“I am coming along great,” Clayton said. “I started running last week, ran about three times, it was good. So I am just progressing from there, building from there and from what the doctors and everybody say, I am a lot further along than regular schedule so I just try to keep it at that pace.”

Clayton, who was acquired by the Rams in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens late in the pre-season was one of Sam Bradford's favorite options early in the season.

Clayton pulled down 23 receptions for 306 yards and 2 touchdowns in just 5 games for the Rams.

It will be interesting to see if Clayton will have a spot in McDaniels new spread offense that he will be bringing to St. Louis.

Clayton knows that he wants to be here.

“I really want to be here. I was really excited about coming. I am totally committed to the organization and everything, the players. I love Sam. I got to develop relationships with the guys on the defense and the offense. I love the relationships, I love the organization, the coaches are awesome. Coach is passionate and I relate to that and I would love to be here.”
