Just 5 Minutes: Pujols Contract Talks, Phil Pressey, and Rams OC Search

Albert Pujols has set a clear deadline of when he wants a contract extension done with the Cardinals.

NOW!

Sure, Pujols and his agent have stated that the Cardinals have until the beginning of Spring Training to get a deal in place, but that is just bologna.

Pujols announcement of this "deadline" really has another meaning.  He doesn't understand why a deal isn't done already!

Seriously, how hard is it?  Sit Albert, his wife and kids, and his overpaid agent down in a room.  Put down a piece of paper that has a blank spot with a dollar sign in front of it followed by the following:

6 years with a club option of 2 more years at $15 million per season.

Let Albert fill in the blank for the amount for how much he wants to make over 6 years.

$150 million?  Perfect!

$200 million?  No problem.

$250 million?  If that is what it takes, alright.

The Cardinals should be willing to pay Albert whatever amount of money that he wants over the next six seasons.  Period.  It doesn't matter the number, just don't let the contract go longer than 6 years without a club option.

The value that Pujols represents for the Cardinals organization and the city of St. Louis can not be measured.  What has happened in Cleveland with LeBron James leaving proves my point!

And seriously, how could Pujols have a problem with this type of structure?  He is filling in the blank with what he wants to get paid for the next 6 seasons.  He would be in control to make whatever figure is necessary

If the Cardinals fail to sign Pujols before Spring Training, then he is all but gone.

Show the man some respect and give him a contract....   NOW!  He's telling you he wants an extension done before he goes to sleep.

Phil Pressey drives me insane!

Sure, Pressey shot the ball well in the second half against Texas A&M, knocking down four 3 pointers.  But he plays with a reckless abandon that resembles one of those dreadful And 1 mix tapes.

Phil, this is NCAA Division 1 basketball.  You aren't in a 3,000 seat gymnasium playing AAU ball any more.  We need vanilla, not mint chocolate chip swirl ice cream.

Sure I recognize his play making ability, which is something that these Tigers definitely need, but Pressey plays wild and out of control.

There is no way that Mike Anderson drew up not once, but twice, plays at the end of regulation and at overtime that involved Pressey taking his guy one-on-one to the hole, both of which ended up with dreadful results.

Pressey went off the map and was on his own.  If the Tigers are going to be a legitimate contender this year, then Pressey needs to stay on the "team" road, otherwise Michael Dixon needs to be on the floor during crunch time.

The Rams offensive coordinator search doesn't seem that complicated to me.

Yes, I know that Josh McDaniels was here for a "token" interview on Saturday.

But is there really any question that Childress, if he is willing, will likely be the guy?

If we know anything about Spags it is that he is predicable and he is safe.

Childress represents both the predictable and the safe option.

And I think Childress will be a great coordinator for Sam Bradford to work with.

Childress runs the same offense as since departed Pat Shurmur ran, so the transition in lingo and play-calling would be virtually the same for Bradford.

And Childress has experience with a star running back when he worked with Adrian Peterson up in Minnesota.  Childress would know how to put Steven Jackson in situations where he can succeed.

Childress will be a fine choice at offensive coordinator.

Its just that McDaniels would be more fun.
