Halak Leads Blues Over Kings

On a night where fan favorite T.J. Oshie returned to the ice for the first time after suffering a broken ankle and missing 31 games, Jaroslav Halak made sure that the final spotlight shined on his new equipment.

Halak stopped 26 of the Los Angeles Kings 27 shots, helping the Blues to a needed 2-1 victory on home ice at Scottrade Center.

Halak, who led all Western Conference goal tenders in all-star voting, was superb for the second time in 5 days after defeating the Kings 3-1 in L.A. last Thursday.  Halak is 7-1 all-time in his NHL career against Los Angeles.

Patrik Berglund netted his 9th goal of the season on a 5 on 3 power play to give the Blues the early lead.

After a second period goal by the Kings tied the score, Blues defenseman Erik Johnson directed a puck towards Kings goalie Jonathan Quick that somehow ventured its way to the back of the net with 6:47 left in the third period.  It was Johnson's fifth goal of the season and proved to be the game winner.

Oshie was held without a point in the game, but played a superb all-around game and logged 17:53 in ice time.

The Blues, who currently sit in 10th place in the Western Division standings, host division rival Detroit on Thursday.
