T.J. Oshie returning to the lineup is just the the anecdote. Oshie is just one of those players that makes everybody better.
"There's a reason he's the player he is," Blues coach Davis Payne said. "He makes us a better team because of all those abilities. He's not only a guy that has the ability, he has the ability to make other guys around him better. That's why getting him back in is such a boost for our club."
There probably hasn't been a single player that has benefited more from Oshie's return than Blues forward Patrik Berglund.
"I think the first game back for ‘Osh,' two days ago, I think we started to play better and better as the game went on," Berglund said. "We're finding each other. We had a lot of traffic to the net and created a lot of scoring chances."
Since Oshie returned to the lineup on Tuesday, Berglund has been impressive, netting two goals and assisting on an Oshie tally, helping the Blues to a 1-0-1 on this ever crucial home stand.
Berglund often gets criticized for not being aggressive and strong in front of the net. In the two games since #74 has been back, Berglund has put 7 shots on net and has been seen in front of the opponents net on the Blues power play.
Payne has coupled Oshie and Berglund on the same line and with the help of Vladimir Sobotka. The trio has easily become the Blues top line option.
While Oshie and Sobotka apply a relentless forecheck, Berglund has found more opportunities, something that bodes well for Blues fans.
Berglund will look to continue his scoring streak on Saturday night as the Blues host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Scottrade Center.
