Backes Tallies 3 Assists In Losing Cause At All-Star Game

Appearing in his first ever All-Star game, Blues forward David Backes made the city of St. Louis proud while playing with the top players in the game.

In a losing effort, Backes was impressive for Team Staal, teaming on a line with All-Star game MVP Patrick Sharp.

"I watch the other guys show their skills," Backes said before the game. "I hope I have one-tenth of the skills some of the guys I'll be playing with have."

Backes fit in quite nicely, playing well in his 13:36 of ice time, tallying 2 shots on goal and assisting on 3 Team Staal goals.  Backes was certainly a big part of the scoring.

The Blues leading scorer with 16 goals, 21 assists, and 37 points was the lone participant for the Blue-Note in this weekends festivities.

Backes was proud to represent the Blues at the All-Star game and felt that it was an honor.  But he knows that there are more important things to work on as the regular season resumes.

"I'd like more wins and a home playoff series. I'd erase all these other things and take that instead," he said. "We'll keep working our butts off and try to make that happen."

The Blues will resume play on Tuesday as they host the Colorado Avalanche.
