Being a part of the NHL All-Star game has been a long time dream of St. Louis Blues forward David Backes.
Now he knows what team he is playing for.
In the newly created format that the NHL has set up, which includes designated captains picking teams for the all-star contest without regard to conference or country affiliation, David Backes was selected in the 17th round of the all-star draft by team captain Eric Staal.
"None of us feel like tussling with this guy," said Team Staal assistant captain Ryan Kesler, who announced the selection of Backes.
Backes is a first time all-star selection.
The Blues forward and assistant captain leads the Blues with 16 goals, 21 assists, and 37 points on the season.
This year's all-star game is being hosted in Raleigh, North Carolina and will be televised on Versus on Sunday at 3 p.m. central time.
