St. Louis Blues forward Andy McDonald is still improving and his workouts are becoming more intense.
McDonald, who has tallied 17 points in 25 games this season, skated with the team for the first time since suffering a concussion back on December 4th. The pre-game skate was the first time McDonald had skated with the team.
Previously documented workouts were done alone so getting on the ice with his teammates was something McDonald had been looking forward to.
“It felt great,” McDonald said. “It was nice to be back out there with the guys, nice to have a goalie to shoot against and nice to have someone to pass you the puck – not that (trainer Ray Barile) doesn't pass the puck well.”
McDonald and the Blues are already taking precautions against further head injuries. McDonald was wearing a special-made helmet during practice, something that hopefully can make things safer for the 33 year old from Ontario, Canada.
“There's no guarantees. If it helps, it helps. You might as well eliminate as many risks as you can,” McDonald said.
No timetable has been pegged for McDonald's return to game action.
