With no more Phil Pressey running the show in Columbia, the Missouri Tigers basketball team and head coach Frank Haith will be looking for a new point guard next season and they need to look no further than Wes Clark. Clark signed on August 29, 2012 before the start of his senior season and was brought in as the successor of Pressey after he graduated in 2014.
But, Pressey left school early for the NBA and Negus Webster-Chan has transfered and now Clark may be thrown into the rotation immediately. Clark is the second ESPN100 player to sign with Mizzou, along with Johnathan Williams III.
Clark is the prototypical floor general. He has a high basketball I.Q. and can be a coach on the court. He has the vision like Pressey and can push the ball on the break. Clark works hard on both ends of the floor and will work until he is taken out of the ballgame.
Maybe, his only weaknesses could be that he needs to be more consistant from outside the arc and getting a little bigger because, at 170 pounds, he is a little on the smaller side. Nonetheless, he will still get himself in the lane to dish or to finish at the rim.
Clark averaged 12.8 points, 6.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds as a senior at Romulus High School. He is tough, can pass, and will be scrappy on both ends of the floor. He will be a good replacement for Pressey and I, like most Mizzou fans, will want to see coach Haith develop him into a great leader and player.
