The St. Louis Rams still have holes to fill on their roster. In the past, filling it through the draft was quite difficult for the Rams, to say the least.
Last year was a different story. The Rams brought in Jeff Fisher and Les Snead and they produced a draft of young talent and players that will stick on the roster. The Rams need the same luck this year.
The Rams have the No. 16 and No. 22 picks in the first round of the 2013 draft. Who will they pick? Rams fans are desperately wanting Fisher and Snead to bring in more explosive weapons for Sam Bradford. Will they go defense? The Rams defense may need help stopping some of the high powered offenses in the new dominate NFC West.
The latter is where they will go and should go. The Rams filled the offensive problems with their two signing of Jared Cook and Jake Long. They will draft some offensive players, but likely not with the first two picks.
Their first pick will be Alec Ogletree, LB, out of Georgia. Ogletree will be the perfect fit along side James Laurinitas. He will help contain the two allusive quarterbacks in the NFC West in Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers and and Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks. Ogletree can also help contain the run.
The next pick will undoubtedly be a safety. The Rams will select Matt Elam out of Florida. Watching college Football in the SEC is the closest you will get to the NFL. Elam brings speed and dynamic tackling which will help shut down the short and long passing game. It will also help the pass rush as well.
You see it every year in the NFL, teams go from not so good, to playoff bound. With the right selections in the draft, the Rams can be one of those teams.
