St. Louis Blues: Who will lead the Blues in goals in 2013?

As the St. Louis Blues prepare for the start of the shortened 2013 season, there is a buzz in the air. Over 5,500 fans came to watch the team's first practice with anticipation of this year's team improving upon its second round playoff appearance a year ago.

The Blues' roster is chalked full of talented young forwards with loads of potential. But who will emerge as the team's top gunner and lead the Blues in goals scored in this abbreviated 48 game schedule?

The guys from The Cruddy Show give their predictions on who they think will lead the Blues in goals in 2013.

David Perron will lead the Blues in scoring this year.  Last year he was second in scoring with 21 goals in just 57 games.  He is on a line with players that distribute the puck.  The only thing that worries me about Perron, is the head injury.  We have seen that injury hurt other players career, hopefully he can stay healthy.  If he does, I predict he scores 21 again.

Last season, forward Andy McDonald played in only 25 games, missing most of the season with concussion symptoms. When McDonald did play, he produced, netting 10 goals and 22 points.

This year, McDonald is healthy and is going to be paired on a line with the pesky Alex Steen and the sensational rookie Vladimir Tarasenko. It is a line combination that could be very dangerous and McDonald should benefit. Look for the veteran to lead the Blues with around 23 goals scored during the abbreviated season.

It is hard not to like what David Perron brings to the table. He is shifty, has terrific hands and a lightning quick release. He’s also going to be 100% healthy to start the season.

From the way it sounds David Backes and TJ Oshie will be his line-mates, which should make for a very complimentary trio. The two big boys will look to play puck control and dish to a slippery Perron in the slot for good scoring chances. The combination of his skill and the guys feeding him the puck leaves no doubt in my mind that Perron will be the top goal scorer for the Blues this year.
