The St. Louis Cardinals Cap did not come home with a single ESPY on Wednesday night. - (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |
Unfortunatly, the World Series went smoother for the Cardinals than the ESPYs as the Cardinals were shut out and did not receive any awards.
The Cardinals were up for three awards on Wednesday night. The Cardinals were nominated for Best Team and Best Game of the Year while Cardinals All-Star third baseman David Freese was nominated for Best Championship Performance.
Despite the nominations, the Cardinals did not win a single award.
Even David Freese, who hit the epic home run to win Game Six of the World Series, did not win for Best Championship Performance despite helping the Cardinals win possibly one of the best games played in Major League history.
While the Cardinals were shut out and did not win any ESPYs on Wednesday night, the team still is the defending World Series champions and will be looking to repeat as they enter the second half of the grueling and long Major League baseball season.
Congrats to the Cardinals organization and David Freese for their nominations to win ESPYs, but unfortunately nobody affiliated with the Cardinals came home with any hardware on Wednesday night.

I think that the Cardinals should have won at least one award at the ESPYs

I don't feel the Cardinals got slighted in the "Best Team" category, but the Cardianls and Rangers definitely should have taken home "Best Game" for sure. In fact, it wasn't even close.
ReplyDeleteBut it was ESPN's show and the only think important to them is the revenue generated from the NFL.
