Cardinals promote Trevor Rosenthal from Springfield

The St. Louis Cardinals bullpen is in absolute shambles. It has been for most of the season and looks especially vulnerable after a weekend sweep at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds.

In a move designed to stop the bleeding, the Cardinals are calling on 22 year old prospect Trevor Rosenthal for some relief.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch,the Cardinals are promoting Rosenthal and optioning Maikel Cleto back to Memphis.

Rosenthal has been pitching for Double AA Springfield all season and has an 8-6 record and has posted a 2.78 ERA on the year.
