The St. Louis Blues and forward T.J. Oshie were within hours of going to arbitration on Friday morning in Toronto as the two could not come to an agreement on a new contract.

But late on Thursday night, the St. Louis Blues announced via their official website that the organization and Oshie have come to an agreement on a five year deal that will pay the forward $4.175 million annually on average.

Oshie is coming off a season in which he scored 19 goals and assisted on 35 others while helping to lead the Blues to the second round of the playoffs.

While Oshie does not necessarily light up the score board, he often lights up every arena he plays in with his energy and enthusiasm.

Speaking of energy, Oshie was very excited about his new contract via Twitter.

Congrats to Oshie on the new deal.  Also congrats need to be offered to the St. Louis Blues organization for locking up Oshie who is an important part of the Blues young core.

Now that Oshie and Perron are both locked up, the Blues can get ready for next season and look to advance even further in next year's NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
