But when Anderson left and current head coach Frank Haith took over, both English and Denmon truly began to relish in a Tigers uniform, helping Mizzou to a thirty win season during their senior year.
Now that their collegiate careers at Mizzou are over, both are trying their hands at playing basketball professionally and hoping to achieve the ultimate prize of being drafted to play in the NBA. Unforatunately, it looks like English may be the only one taken in Thursday night's NBA Draft, and even that is not guaranteed.
According to DraftExpress.com, it looks as though English has a decent shot at being drafted in the second round of the NBA Draft while Denmon may be left sitting at home looking for a job overseas.
English has size on his favor when it comes to directly comparing him to Denmon, but English also has a play-making ability that scouts have noticed, which translates well to the NBA. English was second on the team in scoring last season at Mizzou, averaging 14.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.
Meanwhile Denmon, who was a vintage scorer in a Tigers uniform with a long-range touch, is more of a catch-and-shoot type of player who struggles when he has to put the ball on the deck to create his own shot.
Denmon led Mizzou in scoring a senior, pouring in 17.7 points per game while grabbing five boards per contest. If Denmon is taken, DraftExpress.com feels it would not be until very late into the second round and it is likely that Denmon will not be taken at all.
Both players will find jobs playing basketball professionally, it is just whether or not they will land a job in the NBA starting on Thursday night.
At this point, it looks like things may work out for English.
