St. Louis native and former Chaminade prep star Bradley Beal was drafted third overall by the Washington Wizards in Thursday night's NBA Draft.

Beal attended Florida University for just one season, leading the Gators to a Final Four appearance in last year's NCAA Tournament.

As a freshman, Beal averaged 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

Beal joins Larry Hughes and Darius Miles as recent St. Louis area natives taken early in the first round of the NBA Draft.

While Beal was busy preparing for the NBA Draft, he also celebrated his 19th birthday on Thursday.

Congrats to Bradley Beal as St. Louis hopes he has a long, prosperous, and successful NBA career.
