St. Louis Cardinals fans are fully aware of how "unique" Mike Shannon is.  They hear him every night as the former Cardinals star broadcasts games on 1120 KMOX.

Shannon has been known to tell stories, give a unique perspective, and every once in awhile throw out a "Shannonism."

Shannon isn't a technically sound broadcaster by any stretch.  He stretches the truth, he exaggerates, and sometimes he actually forgets to describe what is happening in the game.

But he does have charisma and Cardinals fans absolutely love and adore him.

And evidently so does Charlie Sheen.

Sheen and Shannon met earlier this week when the Cardinals were in Houston playing a three game set and Sheen was in town working on his tour Charlie Sheen LIVE: My Violent Torpedo of Truth

And it was actually Sheen that was more excited to meet Shannon.

The meeting came together as Sheen and his friend, of all people former Cardinals catcher and third baseman Todd Zeile, ran into Cardinals broadcaster Rick Horton at the hotel gym in Houston.  Zeile communicated to Horton that Sheen wished to meet the Cardinals legend Shannon and the rest is history.

"I thought the world might come to an end if I got those personalities together," Horton told Hall of Fame journalist Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I thought it might be like Armageddon or the Apocalypse."

Evidently, Sheen is a huge baseball fan and loved the Cincinnati Reds as a kid.  So Shannon shared numerous stories with Sheen about Pete Rose and Johnny Bench.

Shannon later said on KMOX that Sheen is just like any other baseball fan, “very down to earth, with his feet on the ground.”

Once again, just as he does every night in the Cardinals broadcast booth, Shannon describes what he sees in a way very few can.
